Are you experiencing persistent feelings of sadness, emptimess, and a loss of the ability to feel happiness? You may be eligible for a research program is testing a medication to target depression symptoms in a different way than existing treatments. We are specifically interested in its potential to help with anhedonia (an inability to feel joy or pleasure), a symptom often not fully addressed by current medications. You do not need to be diagnosed with depression to apply.
If you believe that you are depressed, and are between 18 and 65 years old, we invite you to learn more and see if this study is the right fit for you. Take the first step towards a brighter future!
Groundbreaking Medication: You'll be evaluating a cutting-edge kappa receptor antagonist, a new class of drug that's shown potential in early studies to improve mood and the ability to experience joy and pleasure.
Personalized Care: Your participation will last up to 16 weeks, including regular check-ins with your study doctor. Throughout the study, you'll complete questionnaires that help us understand your experience and track your progress in areas like depression, anxiety, and your ability to feel happiness. For those who qualify and choose to continue taking the medication, there's an opportunity to enter an extension study for longer-term treatment.
Compensation for your Time: We appreciate your commitment. You will receive compensation for your time and travel for completed visits of $2,000 or more. Participants are paid the same day after each visit.
This study is open to men and women, ages 18-65, who meet the following conditions:
No history of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders in the last two years, or suicide attempts in the last two years
No untreated major medical conditions
Not currently pregnant, planning, or nursing
Not currently enrolled in any other clinical trial or research programs
No history of drug or alcohol addiction in the last year
Able to pass a drug test for amphetamines, cocaine, benzodiazepines, opioids, and marijuana/THC
